Avatar of Hakkar from the Sunken Temple
The Sunken Temple is the place where the trolls tried to resurrect the god Hakkar, but the green dragons figured out their plan and drowned the temple in the swamp.
However, this did not stop the trolls, and they continued to carry out their disgusting rituals underwater, while the green dragons guarded the temple against the outside so that no one could enter or get out.
In the end, the trolls caught a couple of dragons and sacrificed them. This is how Hakkar’s Avatar appeared in Azeroth. What’s so creepy about a Sunken temple? Well, first of all, it’s a huge pyramid, almost completely submerged in a swamp.
And secondly, this pyramid served as a sacrificial altar for a long time, and a lot of blood was shed on it in World of Warcraft.

Yalnu from Everbloom Dungeon
Yalnu is a huge centaur from a dungeon full of all sorts of plants and aggressive nerds. You may ask, what can be dangerous about some kind of flora? The fact is that Everbloom is an incredibly powerful force that almost destroyed ancient Draenor.
The titan Aggramar, who appeared on this planet, tried to curb the Everbloom and created a giant named Grond.
Later, human magicians who did not know about the true essence of Everbloom and sought to capture as many strategically important points on Draenor as possible for the war with the Iron Horde, opened portals right into the heart of the lush jungle.
Those magicians inhaled poisoned pollen, got under the control of Blooming, and eventually turned into nightmarish human-like plants, just like the people from Lordaeron who were affected by the plague.
Blooming ordered the magicians to summon a genesaur named Yalnu and send him through the portal directly to Stormwind.
Genesaurs in World of Warcraft are huge creatures, in fact, demigods, comparable in strength to Cenarius. They are incredibly strong and can single-handedly destroy entire armies. Fortunately, there are practically none left on Draenor.
If Yalnu had gone to Stormwind, he would have started destroying everything around him and trampling civilians. In general, it’s good that we stopped him. But the story of Everbloom turned out to be very fascinating. It’s just a pity that WoW developers did not develop it further.
The Fetid Devourer of Uldir
This boss was created by the Titans in the process of laboratory experiments. The Titans studied the corruption of G’uun and its effect on various loa in the hope of finding a way to reanimate the dying tissues of living beings.
Experiments turned out to be unsuccessful time after time, so the Titans simply destroyed the samples, but G’uun somehow managed to revive the test subjects and put them together. So there was a huge chimera, also known as the Fetid Devourer.
At its core, the devourer is a cadaver assembled from loa and ordinary animals, which behaves like a living being only due to the corruption of the Ancient gods. Although titans and guardians are primarily to blame for its appearance because they are initiators of inhuman experiments.
Reliquary of Souls from the Black Temple
At the time of the Burning Crusade, few people were interested in why Illidan, equipping the Black Temple, set aside a whole hall for suffering souls. At that time, Illidan was considered a villain, so no one asked this question, and did not require official explanations.
Many years later, the novel Illidan was published, in which it was stated that souls were used to fueling portals in the fight against the Burning Legion.
In addition, Illidan collected the souls of the Draenei in Auchindoun. He kept these souls in a special reliquary, and the boss we see in the Black Temple is just a vessel, an empty shell, the contents of which change from time to time.
Raal the Gluttonous of the Waycrest Manor
This boss in World of Warcraft is more like a rotting porcine who throws pieces of rotted flesh around. In the second phase of the battle, he calls for servants to feed him, but instead of just taking food, Raal devours his servants.
To be honest, there is not much information about this character. The dungeon log says that he was once the head chef at the Waycrest, and then, apparently, the owners put some kind of witch spell on Raal, and he became a disgusting monster.
Old Gods – Yogg-Saron, C’thun, and G’huun
Yogg-Saron lives on the lower floor of the Titans research laboratory, and in a fight with him, the main goal of the players is not to go crazy. C’thun also talks to the players endlessly and selectively devours them.
Once in the stomach, the player must get out to avoid digestion. Well, G’huun, the “newest” Old god that can be seen in the game, looks more like a giant parasite stuck in a wall.
During the fight, he breaks out, and we see that his body is more like a slug in shape. It seems that of all the Ancient gods shown in the game, G’huun looks scarier than the rest, but C’thun and Yogg-Saron undoubtedly inspire fear too.
It’s impossible to even estimate how many obstacles the players have conquered throughout the game’s twenty years of existence. The passing of bosses is traditionally regarded as the most challenging and time-consuming action in MMORPGs.
And the mentioned bosses could also appear on the list of World of Warcraft’s most challenging enemies.
