With Dr. Eggman’s discovery of the potent Paradox Prism, Sonic Prime follows the multiverse trend that is taking over recent films and television shows by transporting Sonic to a parallel realm named New Yoke City.
The Chaos Council, an organisation composed of several incarnations of Dr. Eggman, rules over this nightmare version of Sonic’s original home. Sonic has to recruit city-dwelling resistance fighters like Tails, Amy, and Knuckles.
Over the course of the series, Sonic visits a wide variety of universes, or “Shatterverses,” that the evil Chaos Council is plotting to destroy.
Is Sonic Prime Receiving Positive Feedback?
Sonic Prime has received mainly positive reviews, however they aren’t quite gushing. The reviewers at Ready Steady Cut applauded the high-energy plot despite some clumsy jumping around in time and space.
Critical of the series’ speed but praised it for its innovative spin on a classic franchise and its amusing trip down memory lane. The action was praised by Game Rant, who wrote that it feels adequately quick, has compelling choreography, and that each character has a distinct fighting style.
However, the programme was criticised for being repetitive and having a lacklustre cast. disliked the show, citing its repetitious plot and subpar animation as reasons to label it a “multiverse misfire.”
Is Season 2 of Sonic Prime in the works?
The second season of Sonic Prime has not been officially confirmed. Netflix prefers to wait a while before making any decisions about a show based on its viewing statistics, such as the early viewership and the subsequent viewer drop-off.
This can happen very quickly for certain shows and quite slowly for others. Netflix also considers feedback from viewers and critics, and so far, the show has received largely positive reviews from both groups.
The first season of Sonic Prime leaves off on a cliffhanger, with Sonic and the Chaos Council still at odds.
Although only eight episodes are currently available, Netflix originally stated that the show would consist of 24 episodes back in February 2021. According to this logic, a second season of eight episodes and a third season of eight episodes would be issued.

The official Sonic the Hedgehog Twitter account made the announcement that new episodes would be released in 2023 on January 18th. The tweet did not specify whether this was an addition to Season 1 or a part of Season 2. No release date has been set as of yet.

Season 2 of Sonic Prime has yet to receive an official release date, however rumours have it coming out in May or June of 2023.
