Method 5: Connect to a Virtual Private Network
If you’re still receiving the “there was an error loading the game configuration from the website” message after trying the aforementioned steps, it’s likely that your Internet service provider (ISP) is limiting the allowed game settings for your area.
In order to play the game, it is recommended that you connect to a UK server via a Virtual Private Network. As the game has no censorship limitations in the UK, you should be able to play it over a virtual private network connection there.
Method 6: Make Use of a Dedicated Third-Party Launcher
Using a third-party launcher called RuneLite, some players were able to successfully run OSRS (Old School RuneScape). Therefore, it is recommended that you utilise RuneLite to run OSRS and check and see whether that fixes this issue for you.
