The Orville: New Horizons Release Date, Cast, Plot and More

As the creator, writer, director, executive producer, and star of The Orville, Seth MacFarlane’s endeavour has been a labour of love and a massive undertaking.

There are currently no plans for a fourth season of the show, which is gearing up for its Season 3 premiere on Hulu on June 2.

When their most recent contracts expired in August, rumour has it that the show’s ensemble cast was let go.

Additionally, MacFarlane has finished Season 3 of The Orville, which is titled New Horizons, and has been working on new projects as part of his overall deal with NBCUniversal.


It including the upcoming Peacock series Ted, which is based on MacFarlane’s movie franchise and in which he will reprise his voice role as the series’ titular character.

Scott Grimes, a cast member of The Orville, has been cast as a regular in Ted, bringing him back to MacFarlane.

An Overview of the Orville TV Show

‘The Orville’ is an American science fiction comedy-drama television series produced and starring Seth MacFarlane as Ed Mercer.

A series protagonist and an officer in the Planetary Union’s line of exploration space ships in the year 25th’s.

This season 3 teaser features the whole opening credits for the first episode of Season 3, which have been reimagined and show the main cast.

Most of the characters that fans have come to love will be returning. No one can forget that Seth MacFarlane plays Ed Mercer.

The Orville’s up-and-coming captain, and Adrianne Palicki is his first officer and ex-wife, Commander Kelly Grayson.

Crew members Penny Johnson Gerald as the ship’s doctor Dr. Claire Finn are also on board with them. Her sons Marcus and Ty, played by BJ Tanner and Kai Wener, are returned.

Lieutenant Gordon Malloy, Scott Grimes’ oblivious friend and fellow cop, is still around. Lieutenant Commander Bortus (Peter Macon) and Lieutenant Talla Keyali (Jessica Szohr) are returning, with J Lee reprising.

The Orville Season 3 Will Consist Of 11 Episodes

Seasons 1 and 2 of The Orville each included 12 and 14 episodes. Even while you may expect The Orville Season 3 to contain 16 episodes, that isn’t going to be the case.

When New Horizons premiered on Hulu in 2020, executive producer Jon Cassar said that the show would only have 11 episodes, but that wasn’t all terrible news.

A couple more episodes are being cut, but each episode will be around 10 minutes longer than in previous seasons.
