The Wealth of Chris Licht
Chris Licht is a very wealthy man, valued $15 million. The vast majority of these funds came from his work in journalism and television production. His claimed annual income is $3 million.
Licht earned a degree in broadcast journalism and political science from Syracuse University’s S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communications in 1994. After finishing his degree, he went to work for KNBC in Los Angeles, and afterwards for other NBC stations in both that city and San Francisco.
He joined MSNBC in 2005 and has since served as executive producer for the Scarborough Country and Morning Joe shows. After joining CBS in 2011, Licht was promoted to VP of programming at CBS News in 2011.
He joined the executive production staff of CBS This Morning the following year. The show’s ratings and popularity skyrocketed under his direction. After being promoted to executive producer of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in 2016, the show’s weekly viewership immediately spiked.
Profession as the Head of CNN
After Jeff Zucker stepped down as president in February 2022, Licht was named chairman and CEO. In May of that year, he became CEO of the business. He quickly got to work on a plan to restrict “breaking news” coverage to only the most momentous events.
It was Licht’s hope to alter Republicans’ impressions of CNN as well. Many individuals have lost faith in the news because of this. On his first day, he told his staff, “I think we can be a beacon in regaining that trust by being an organisation that exemplifies the best characteristics in journalism: fearlessly speaking truth to power, challenging the status quo, questioning groupthink.”
And by informing audiences with honest reporting and intelligent analysis, while always giving due consideration to the validity of other points of view. We will always put the truth first, as we should,” he continued.
Become a Writer
The journalist had a stroke in the nation’s capital in 2010. He eventually got better and wrote a book about it to help others avoid his mistakes. Simon & Schuster released his 2011 book, titled “What I Learned When I Almost Died: How a Maniac TV Producer Put Down His BlackBerry and Started to Live His Life.”
Licht’s career has been punctuated by a number of accolades. A Daytime Emmy and two News & Documentary Emmys were awarded to CBS This Morning while he was the show’s executive producer.
In addition to his Outstanding Feature Story in a Regularly Scheduled Newscast Emmy nomination, he was also nominated for the Emmy for Outstanding Investigative Journalism in a Regularly Scheduled Newscast.
